Boy making artwork with teacher That's why we are one of the market leaders in its provision, and why we are retained year after year by boroughs with some of the most challenging youngsters.
We don't just entertain. We educate in our own "ambush learning" way. We engage. We challenge. And we all enjoy ourselves. We include:

  • Workshops in arts, drama, music and dance
  • Visits to historical and cultural sites and sport events
  • Training in citizenship, anti-discrimination, equality and personal development

Art - Painting/Drawing. The local environment and everyday life is used inspire creativity. We use topics such as animals, schools, the local park, and friends. We also use more traditional techniques such as exploring still nature and life models. In sculpture everyday materials are used, so the children create different shapes and forms which they can take home or exhibit at school showings.

Drama - We use simple drama games and exercises which support learning in an enjoyable way. Participants are encouraged to develop communications skills, speaking and listening skills, cognitive abilities, team work, concentration and spatial awareness, among many others.

Music - Keyboard/Piano. This provides the foundation techniques for beginners. They learn to read and understand music and often learn to play their favourite TV, film, classical or pop songs. They have the opportunity to play individually or as a group.

Singing lessons are highly popular and children are trained by a professional coach. During our course students learn to utilise different voice intonations, body posture, breathing and projection. Singing is taught individually or as a chorus group.

Dance - Participants receive basic dance training with specialist teachers in many different styles. They work towards a performance and certificates are awarded. In addition to dance, students are introduced to related artistic skills including stage production, costume, set design and use of music.

Breakdancer

One week, one day a week, one term, one year.
Ballet. Break-dance. Street dance. Contemporary. Hip-hop. Jazz. Tap. We do it all with exuberance. And we include introductions to stage production, costume, set design and use of music.

Ballet - a highly developed technique demanding precision and grace, executed according to specific steps and gestures. Jazz and modern dance techniques are based on traditional ballet: to excel in jazz dance, the dancer must master both modern and ballet techniques.

Break-dance - also known as B-boying - is part of hip-hop culture. This unique form of dancing is very acrobatic and creative.

Street dance - a living and evolving dance form representing trends of youth culture based on elements of improvisation and influenced by current popular music.

Contemporary dance - focuses on examining the choreographic and performing process rather than strict dance technique. Contemporary dance draws on modern dance techniques and an array of developing philosophies of movement.

Hip-hop - a cultural movement that began in the early 1970s among urban African-Americans and Latinos in the Bronx, New York, and has since spread around the world. It is a dance with no limitations to positions and an expression of how a dancer feels.

Jazz dance - commonly used in Broadway shows. Even though jazz dancing might look easy, the dancers have to be in excellent shape and practice up to six hours a day. Traditional musical shows include All That Jazz and Chicago.

Tap - the name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not only a dancer but also a percussive musician.

Bollywood dance - An eclectic mix based on Indian classical and folk dance and incorporating western styles. Inspired from the Bollywood (Indian-Hindi speaking) Film Industry, it is very expressive, conveying the meaning of the music through dance and movement.

Suitable for: Young people at risk aged 8-19
Fees: Starting from only £8.50 per participant per hour
Term: 4 - 5 hours per day for 5 days during school breaks
